Transit of Mercury 12:12-19:43 BST

May 9, 2016 @ 12:00 pm – 5:00 pm
The Redoubt Fortress
Royal Parade
Eastbourne BN22

Mercury will cross the disc of the Sun on Monday 9th May 2016 between 12:12 and 19:42 BST.

If you missed the last Transit of Venus this is the next best thing!

We will be observing from the Gun Platform at the Redoubt Fortress from 12 noon til 5pm, with Hydrogen Alpha and White Light filters and by projection.

WARNING: NEVER look directly at the Sun without appropriate filters in place.

Would you be willing to share your Contact times with me on a reciprocal basis. I observed the transit from Barnard Castle and have the five contact times. I’m looking for a comparison of the parallax observed at other UK locations. particularly at the Greatest.

      Hi Robert,

Sorry but we were clouded out so did not take any contact times. Hope you have more luck with other societies.
